Need advice on the best way to get cheap flights from Boston to Orlando. I will be reserving flights from Ireland and wondered what airline has the best value, and which airport in Orlando to fly into. I hope to stay at PBH at Universal, then GF in WDW.

Any advice much appreciated.

Hi Joanna, There is only one airport in Orlando, there is also one in Tampa.I have gone thru Orbitz and Expedia to get tickets from Boston to Orlando. A good price is usually around $200. round trip. Last summer I was able to get a great price of $164. nonstop on Delta, but the flight was at about 7am. Good Luck! joan:Pinkbounc

I usually use this travel website:
http://www2.travelocity.com. If y.... You can also use [url]http://www.orbitz.com
or
http://www.expedia.com.

All sites can provide similar information. I am not sure if orbitz or expedia will provide email notices to you. All this being said (I live in Massachusetts) I have found a good average round trip price to be in the $180 to $200 range from Boston to Orlando International Airport. My daughter just paid $199 for a round trip on Delta Airlines to fly May 27, 2003. Delta, US Airways and American are the major carriers to Orlando International Airport that I am familiar with. Delta seems to have the most flights. Check http://www.massport.com (Boston Logan airport) if you want to find what other airlines fly to Orlando. I use American because of frequent flyer miles. You can find rock bottom rates less than $150 in January on special deals that I wouldn't wait around for. You can pay as high as $400 for high travel times around holidays and during school vacation weeks when there is a lot of travel. I assume you live in Ireland so I have given you as much information as I can - I hope I haven't overdone it. Good Luck!

I would recommend bos to mco. Delta has numerous non-stop flights every day.

Rates range from $100 round trip (great deal I got last year!) to very high (right now it's at $380 for the flight I booked a month ago!!)

I usually book if it's under $200. But I've also book at $215 because I had no choice.

Try not to book anything over $200 if you can but like I said my flight that I got a month ago for $181 non-stop is now $380!!! But I think they'll come down again.

Delta has the most non-stops to Florida from Boston. We also flew American once but they are usually more expensive.

Once you see a fare you like at various websites, I'd book at the airline's website. That way you can get a voucher for the difference IF the price does come down from when you bought the tickets!;)

Thanks so much for the information. I am living in Ireland, so I'm not familiar with which of your airlines offers the best value. I was also confused, as when I looked at expedia, I was given an option for several orlando airports, so I wasn't sure which one to go for.

Thanks for all the tips and advice

Joanna

The International airport to use is Orlando International Airport. This airport has the code MCO. Look for this to distinguish it from other airports in the Orlando area. There is a second major airport in the Orlando area called Sanford which also may show up when you do a search on expedia or travelocity etc. Orlando International has the most flight choices. It is about a 35 minute ride by car to Walt Disney World. Sanford airport has far fewer flights and is a 50 minute-60 minute ride. Any other airport that shows up on your searches is just a small refional airport that you would not fly to on an international flight. Don't get the impression that one airline is any cheaper than another. All of the airlines chase each other special prices in an attempt to get customers. Delta may be low today and American tomorrow or the reverse.

Sorry about the typos in the other websites. I need to attend typing school.

Welcome to the USA. My son and I will be visiting Ireland for 3 weeks this summer. Looking forwar to it. Last time there was about 45 years ago when I was young. Have a good trip! Good luck with air fares.

if you give me exact dates i'll be happy to search for you and post the results

3/7/03 early AM: A few lower priced seats opened up for return to Boston Sunday after Thanksgiving, nonstop. According to classavailability .com there weren't that many.

This date usually has very few of the low priced seats on the direct flights and they go fast when first offered 331 days in advance.

I booked Delta out of Boston to MCO for our Aug '03 trip back in early Oct. Got a fare of $198, including taxes, fees. I always check on it every few days just to make sure there aren't any changes. So far, one change and I dealt with that. Now, I can't even bring it up doing a search. I can find my flight out of Boston, but the return flight isn't listed. So, I do any search, using non-restricted fares and low and behold there it is.....$1200 r/t pp!!!!! Yikes. Glad I booked way early. I'm sure it will come back down but it did give me a mini-heart attack.

Selecting "unrestricted" in Delta's web site will always show the high (1200. or so) fare regardless of how many cheaper seats are remaining.

But doing this is still a good way to verify that flights still exist.

Since Delta shows just the cheapest nine choices, yoy might find the flights and the cheapest avaiable fare using Travelocity instead.

joanna....

try this website

www.itasoftware.com

you can sign on as a guest or register but it does not cost you anything

once on the main site.....you just plug in your dates and depature/arrival airports

the search engine will go out and search most airlines with flights and come back with costs....

if you ask the "come back" sreen for details......they will break out all the "lil" costs for you

it is a great place to do comparisons of flights

they also will tell you the flight duration, tight connections if any and also whether prop segments are present ....

we use it all the time for comparisons and then usually book online at the "airline's website"
