Hi all,
I really want to go away for the weekend of the 4th (I know, planning a little late). Anyway, we can drive to Boston and was wondering about the concert there. On the website it states that there is a full concert on the 3rd, but no fireworks.
Can anyone tell me if Toby Keith will be doing a performance on the 3rd or only on the 4th? And if so, is it like a full concert or only a song or two?

They say to be at the location by 2:00pm on the 4th or they might be full and not let you in. I think that I would have a better time on the 3rd without fireworks.
Thanks for any suggestions.
Jenny

Boston on July 4th weekend is a madhouse. If you are willing and able to deal with that, then go for it. be there about 9 am and spread yourself out (either day) or you will not get in or be sitting 2 miles away.

We've luckily got a reservation for a party on a building rooftop overlooking the Hatch Shell. I wouldn't try to do the event on the 4th any other way, ever again. If you're okay with taking in what a lot of other folks would (erroneously) consider the dress rehearsal, then that's your best move.

It is a blast. But it is a madhouse. People literally line up to be the first ones and then race across the esplanade to claim their spot with blankets/chairs. (And that happens at like 8am)

We used to do it when we were single, but the thought of fighting those crowds with kids and having to wait 12 hours in the hot sun to see a concert and fireworks just isn't what I want to do anymore.

Maybe fifteen years ago (way before they did the pre-concert concert), a friend called me about 4:30 on July 4  and said she'd been watching the activity on TV, and did I want to go? I drove to her house, we parked at a T station, rode into Boston, got off at the Arlington T station, walked across the Fiedler Bridge... and about six thirty, she found us a small space on the river, not too far behind the Hatch Shell! We heard but of course didn't see the concert... and we were thisclose to where they set off the cannons :teeth: We had a blast.
