Boston DISmeet--June 13th--Final details listed--Important message pg. 6

I have to work at the barn that morning, but will try and catch up with you at some point - don't count me in for lunch. It will be me and my DBF (Phil). I'll send you a pm closer to that day to let you know!!! :teeth:

Do we have to wear lime green or are our finest Disney gear acceptable? LOL I have nothing lime green!! Not even ribbon and I'm pretty sure it won't cross my mind again until the morning of the meet!!

OK - I am a maybe, but write me down as going. I need to work out some guilt about going to this versus my high school reunion but my college roomate may be in Boston this same weekend so it may work out perfectly.

If I go I will be bringing my DH, a total sweetheart who kindof gets the DIS and who I met while working in Boston on Beacon Hill, and my DS (2).

So three total.

Here are just some suggestions for the day:

I investigated a little and, while I have not been to this new tourist trap, there is a now a Cheers in Faneuil Hall that is a replica of the TV set. They take reservations for parties of 15 or more and have a children's menu. It also has private function areas which might make good place to meet at and begin the meet with lunch. It has been voted of of the top ten Family Friendly Restaurants in 2003. Here is the link:
Cheers Faneuil Hall

They give this e-mail address for private parties and tour group events: jlabouliere@cheersboston.com

I am also a fan of Durgin Park and the long tables but that is a little more expensive. If we eat right at Faneuil Hall it makes logistics a lot easier and then we just walk on over to the Common for the remainder of the afternoon.

People could park at the Common Garage too and walk from there to Faneuil Hall and then be right where their cars are for after the Swan Boats. It is also a fairly reasonable garage for parking rates, there is a flat weekend rate of $9. Here is the link: Boston Common Garage which provides directions to the garage. It is a 10-15 minute walk from there to Faneiul Hall but it is an easy trek taking through a part of the Freedom Trail and some of the sites like the State House, The Granary Burying Ground, Kings Chapel, the Old State House, and on to Faneuil Hall - which provides a great walking map to everyone not as familiar with directions downtown.
The Freedom Trail

Hope this is a help and not a hindrance for planning.

I'll be wearing my gray DIS shirt, a DIS pin, and maybe some ribbon too :) I'll bring some extra ribbon for you, Kim :)

Thanks for looking some things up, Castlegazer.

What do folks think of the Cheers idea? You can check out the menu in Castlegazer's link.

Hopefully by tomorrow or Wednesday, we can have the exact time and meeting location set in stone so that everyone will know what is happening.

Karen

sound like a great time.

Gonna do my best to get there.

Thanks Karen!! I just ordered a new shirt from TDS a few days ago so it should be here in plenty of time. Of course now I need to by the boys something new for the occassion! Always a reason to shop at the Disney Store!! LOL Cheers sounds like fun although I haven't had a chance to look at the menu. This will be a blast!! Can't wait!

I like the idea of a restaurant with reservations such as Cheers in Fanueil Hall. It gives everyone a location and reserved tables to begin the meet. I am really, really going to try to make it - that is if you don't mind a CB lurker attending - you can find me posting most over at the resort board - S/D thread and its alter ego - Sigma Delta Sorority thread. :sunny:

Everyone is welcome, Mouseteacher! Anyone who thinks they can put up with me for a few hours is invited, that is ;)

Karen

Put me down as 1 for a maybe....we may have to celebrate father's day early that weekend as DF is going to Tampa for my cousin's wedding......he's our representative! HA HA!

Cheers Faneuil Hall or Durgin Park sounds good to me!

Cheers sounds great to me and their menu looks good also. Kids meals are around 3.50 so we won't go broke!! LOL

Kim

Sorry won't be able to make but please post and tell me how everything went. Hope you all have a great time :)

I called Cheers today to inquire about a group luncheon there, and here's what I found out.

For a party of our size, our reservation would have to be at either 11:00 or 11:30. She said they could not take a later reservation than that.

They have luncheon packages available that include entree, fountain soda, tax, and tip. They range in price from $14.95-$23.95, depending on the options. I am waiting to receive the menus for the group luncheon.

She said that kids could order off of the kids menu. She believed that the kids menu only went up to 6 or 8, though.

I did not ask if we could make a reservation and order off of the regular menu. I will talk to her about that.

If we go this route, they require a $100 deposit to secure the space.

I will let everyone know when I receive more information from the folks at Cheers.

Thanks Karen for looking into it further. Since I have never been here I don't know whether its our best bet, so please do not feel like my throwing out this suggestion is the be all end all of discussion about the lunch matter. I also get the feeling I am forgetting somewhere else and I can't shake the feeling so I would love it if others would pipe up about the favorite spots downtown. I can't tell from the web site where they sit large groups - did they give you any indication?

I like the Finch, #21. I have to tell you, though, this tour menu is pretty much their highlights from their regular menu - I have been to the Bull and Finch many times. I usually get the burger which is pretty good. This is definately not a culinary hot spot for Boston but it may fit the bill for us as a large group with small children in tow.

Do you have a date that the Deposit would need to be in by? I need to really fish or cut bait here about my decision on this - its creeping up onto June faster than I would like.

Thanks again Karen.

Wow :Pinkbounc , this is a DIS meet that I can attend.

Can I come?

It would be me, DD (9 and 5 months) and possibly DH if he's not working.
