Him new to this so hoping you can help?

My use year starts October 2013- September 2014
I want to make a reservation at my home resort for August 2014 using the points from 2013-2014 year and the 2014-2015 year and buy 5 one time use points but the 11 month point is September 2013(before the use year has started) is this possible?

Yes and no, I think...

The date that "matters" is the date your vacation starts...an August 2014 vacation falls in your 2014 use year, so yes you can borrow 2015 points (and use 2014 points--and, if possible, points banked from 2013)...

BUT, you cannot buy one-time use points til the 7-month window opens. You can book your August 2014 vacation, at your home resort, as of September, 2013 (points from a non-home resort can't be used til the 7-month window).

I think I've got this correct...hope it helps.

Since you have an October Use Year, your 2013 Use Year runs from October 1, 2013, to September 30, 2014. Thus, the August 2014 trip falls into your 2013 Use Year. I know, it gets a bit confusing, but you need to think of it it terms of the 12-month period covered by your Use Year rather than just by the standard 12-month calendar.

The 11-month booking window opens in September 2013 for that August 2014 trip. At that time, you can use your current allotment of points from the 2013 Use Year and you can borrow points from your 2014 Use Year (which doesn't commence until October 1, 2014). You cannot use any points from your 2015 Use Year allotment because that is technically more than one Use Year in the future from the date of the planned trip.

As DMKEDM mentioned, you can't buy One-Time Use points until the 7-month window opens for your trip.

If the OP transferred points from another owner with the same home resort, wouldn't those points also have the 11 month booking window? I doubt that an owner would only transfer 5 points, but whatever amount over the 5 points would just save the OP from borrowing from the 2014 UY.

Just a suggestion...

Book the trip you want, minus one night. Then, when you get to seven months and can buy the one time use points, try to get the last night of your stay. If not available, waitlist it or just shorten your trip by one day.

Just a thought,

You can not use one time use points for a waitlist, unless you have already bought them from booking a previous reservation which was then canceled. They will not set up a waitlist requiring a purchase of those points.

Now, what person could do is book a different resort for that night buying the one time use points if the one they want is not available and then waitlist.

Yes. Thank you. I explained it wrong (left out the booking a different resort first), however, you said it correctly. Thank you for clarifying my mistake for the OP and other's sake. :goodvibes
