Can you borrow points before you technically need them?

Let's say I want to make a reservation right on the 7 month mark. But I need to borrow points to do it.

I'm under the impression that you can only do the act of borrowing at the same time you make the reservation with the borrowed points. In other words, I can't borrow the points on Wednesday and have them sitting in my account, ready to use, if I want to make a resie with them on Friday.

Am I correct in thinking that I would have to book over the phone with Member Services, so that I could borrow and make my resie? This would mean that I could not book until Member Services opens at 9:00 a.m. Other people (who don't need to borrow) could book online at 8:00 a.m.

It's easy to do, and the system will guide you through it. Booking over the phone is not required even if you are borrowing.

But, no, you cannot borrow points until you are making a reservation. Of course if you have previously borrowed for a reservation, and then cancelled that reservation, you will have borrowed points available in your account.

If you are booking on line and need to borrow points, it will ask you if you want to borrow points. Then it tells you this is a one time transaction and is not reversible.
