Borrowing then Canceling Help?

I needed to borrow some points so I can make my reservation in my current use year, some nights having 2 different types of rooms because availability is spotty, cancelling and booking as things open up in the same category. Once I have reserved all my nights in 1 category room, Im looking to cancel the extra rooms. My question is, will there be an issue banking the extra points I don't need to next year? I only borrowed 6 points so Im hoping I've only locked up my first 6 points to the current use year so as long as I use at least 6 points, the rest are bankable to the next year? I hope it won't be a situation where I borrowed the 6 points to book the Wednesday nights room reservation so that's the night I have to keep because I can't use that nights points to bank to next years.

If you cancel the night with the borrowed points because you get what you want, those points go into your account. Then just go in and modify the real nights, and don’t change anything. Follow it through to the end, and it will now pull the borrowed points into the nights you want
