Borrowing Question

I'm not quite sure if i'm confused...

DH and I want to take a blow-out vaca for our 10th Anniversary in Aug 06
We want to stay at the contemporary, so we were going to rent/transfer out our points
We have an Aug UY
If we want to borrow 06 points for making a ressie btwn now and Aug 06 we can, right? that would mean that we have 300 points available now to book with.
We would not be able to borrow 07 points until Aug 06, so we wouldn't be able to use more than 300 points towards our Aug 06 trip, right?
Or, are we able to book the ressie since the 07 points technically become available by the time Aug 06 rolls around?
are you more confused than me by now?

Let's see if I have this right. You have an August UY and own 300 points. Your 2005 points are available to you now, and you can borrow your 2006 points now as well. That would mean all your points from 2005 and 2006 would be gone and you could borrow August 2007 points for a stay from August 1, 2006 through July 31, 2007. Of course, that means you wont have any current points in 2007 or probably from now on!

Let me simplify that a bit:
2005 use year= stays from August 1, '05 through July 31, '06
2006 use year= stays from August 1, '06 or can be borrowed for stays in the 2005 use year above.
2007 use year = stays from August 1, '07-July 31, '08 or borrowed for stays from August 1, '06-July 31, '07

i have 150 points
so i can borrow 06 points which gives me 300 points to play with now.
We want to stay at a DVC resort for our 2nd week during our 06 trip,
so i guess my question is, can i make a ressie now for an Aug 06 trip using 07 points, or do i have to wait until aug 06 before i can apply them to anything?
will they even let me borrow them if i've already borrow 06 points?

You can make a ressie for an August '06 stay with '06 points OR borrowed '07 points OR banked '05 points OR all three.

It looks like you are trying to rent out your '05 and '06 points and use '07 points for a ressie. If all of your '05 and '06 points are gone, yes, you can use '07 points for an '06 ressie, but only if there are no other points left in your account.

Yes diane, that's exactly what we would like to do... your explanation is so much more concise than mine
if it's at all possible.
We're (read: I'm) hoping to not have to use all of our 07 (or 06 for that matter) but want to know what exactly i have to work with.

One other thing you might want to keep in mind is your banking window. If you are not going to make the reservation soon you might want to call and have your 2005 points banked into 2006. You will have to bank them before you can use them in 2006. You can do this when you make the reservation. But if you are not going to make the reservation before your 100% banking window, then you will need to call before that month to bank them ahead of time. Remember too, once the points are banked you can not change your mind and bring them back into the 2005 use year. I hope that makes sense.
