Hi, all.
I think I have this right, but I want to run it passed you guys first.
We are doing a four night cruise in May '06, and yes, we are using points!
Anyway, we are sandwiching the cruise between one night at VB, and eight nights at VWL.
I will need to borrow a couple hundred points in order to do this, but I want to make sure I do it the right way.
My thinking: Because borrowed points can't be banked, and because reservation points can't be banked, I'm better off using the borrowed points for the cruise, not VB or VWL.
If I used borrowed points for VB & VWL and had to cancel, then I wouldn't be able to bank any of the points. At least this way I can bank some of the points if needed.
Now, I am booking this with a "hole in the middle".
In other words, I am booking the VB night, then there is nothing booked for four nights, then eight nights at VWL. At the end of booking VWL, I will go back and fill in the hole with the cruise.
I believe that's necessary because we can only borrow points when needed, and I won't need borrowed points until booking the cruise.
I'm sure I made this more complicated than it needed to be.
Anyway, does this strategy make sense? Do you have any suggestions of how to do it better? (No, I'm not renting my points and paying cash!
)
Thanx for the insight!
