Borrowing Question

We have a February use year. We plan to borrow 2004 points to book 2 trips in 2003 (In August and December of 2003). Do I have to wait until February 2003 in order to borrow February 2004 points... or can I book using the usual 11/7 month windows?

I did this last year and was told I had to wait, which I did. When I booked the reservation, the CM at MS said I could have booked earlier... so basically I'm totally confused....

My understanding is that you should always be able to use the normal 11/7 month windows if the points would/could be available at the time of your stay. You can borrow one use year ahead.

The 11 month window is already open for August 2003. You should be able to make that reservation now even if you have no 2003 points in your account. You should be able to borrow points from your 2004 allotment.

If you want to make a reservation for 12/2003, the reservation window opens in January, 2003. You should be able to make this reservation then even if you have no 2003 points in your account and have to borrow 2004 points.

If MS tells you no when you try to book at the 11 month window, I'd ask for a supervisor.

I seem to recall some kind of "computer software" problem that was preventing borrowing in situations like yours. Thought they got it fixed, though.

You do know that eventually you either have to go less often or buy more points, right????

You can call now and make the reservation now, at least for the August trip. I also have a Feb use year and have already made my ressies for next July and did borrow points from 2004 for this ressie. I encountered no problem making the ressie, so give them a call!!!

My understanding is in allignment with CarolMN. You should have no trouble making either ressie at the 11 month window

I know there was discussion previously about this issue. I too believe you can make both reservations when the window opens as long as you're in good standing. I do know there was confussion and some were not allowed to borrow until within one year of the use year in question.

I seem to recall there was timing problem with the instance where they had to wait. They were actually borrowing from two years ahead or something like that.

You can always book your vacation at the 11 month mark if they have availability. You do need to have points that will be available at that time.

Walking through your example:

You could call today to book August. You will be "paying" with your Feb 2003-Jan 2004 points. You don't have enough. You will also borrow from your Feb 2004 allotment. This sounds kosher.
