Borrowing Question....

Ugh.. I can't seem to wrap my little brain around this...

I have a Dec UY... All points from 07 gone (but we had fun) Full boat of 2008 points are calling my name....

I want to take a trip to DLR in June 08 (Dec 07uy)

Do I have to wait until my Dec 07 UY starts to borrow points from 2008 to book the trip at DLR?

Or can I borrow them now and book??

You can borrow from 08 UY for a trip after starting after your 07 UY starts
SO yes
you could borrow 08 pionts for any trip starting on or after December 01 2007 in your case

Yup, you can borrow now.

As long as you are within the booking window for the vacation (i.e. 11 or 7 months), they will let you borrow the points into the appropriate Use Year.

Wait, now I'm cornfused. She can borrow her 2008 points now, even though she's currently in her 2006 UY? I would have thought she'd need to wait until 12/1/07.

It sounds like you both are saying that it's the trip date that matters, rather than the date on which you're requesting that the points be borrowed.

As long as her trip date is in her 2007 use year, she can borrow 2008 points. Date of reservation is not relevant (except for the 11/7 month window).

The way it works:

1. You can call to reserve 11 months in advance or 7 at non-home resort.

2. When you call, you use points that will be available at time of trip not at time of call. In determining whether you are using current, banked or borrowed points always evaluate it from time you will be in WDW not date on which you call to reserve.

3. Assume a Dec use year and you want to go in June 2008.

4. You can call now if it is your home resort because you are in 11 month window (you could have called as early as July 07).

5. You can now use the following points for that June 08 trip if you have any in the particular use years: (a) those to be issued Dec 07 which will be considered "current use year" points for that 08 trip because you are using those points during the Dec 07 to Nov 08 use year; (b) if you have points from your Dec 06 allotment, you can also use those for that June 08 trip as long as you have timely banked them into the Dec 07 -08 use year; (c) you can borrow points that will be issued in Dec 08 because you will be borrowing into the use year (determined by the time of your trip not the time you call) that immediately precedes that one which begins Dec 08.
