Borrowing question

I have a February use year so my 2002 points became available today.

A couple of weeks ago I made a partial reservation for August for 3 of the 5 nights we wanted. At the time the other 2 nights were not available. In addition, the 3 nights used what we have left for 2002 points (we have another trip planned as well). So, we would be borrowing from 2003 points to book the last 2 nights.

So, I knew I wanted to either waitlist for the last two nights or book alternate room sizes to accomodate my party. My understanding was that I had to wait until today when my 2002 points became available in order to borrow from my 2003 points to make the remaining portion of the reservation.

I called this morning and got what I wanted but after explaining the whole mess to the CM, she said I was wrong and that I could have booked that reservation before today.

My head is still spinning - was I wrong? The CM said she was new and could be confused but went and asked and said that I was wrong.

Someone explain this to me......

I don't know for sure, but I thought the same thing, that's why I waited until today because I needed 2003 points to.

MS was correct. You can always make a reservation at your 11 month window as long as there will be points in your account at the time your reservation begins. Using your example, your 2002 use year points are for reservations made between 2/1/2002 and 1/31/2003. If you need more points for your August reservation (which falls between 2/1/2002 and 1/31/2003, you can borrow points from your 2003 use year (making them good for a reservation between 2/1/2002 and 1/31/2003) into your 2002 use year. As long as you are within your 11 month reservation window, you can borrow points (if you have them to borrow of course) to complete a reservation at your home resort.

Simply put, banking and borrowing have no bearing on when you can make a reservation.

The reservation priority is the only factor in when points may be borrowed. You do NOT have to wait until your use year to make any reservation, as long as your are within the proper window.

For ANY reservation during your 2002 use year (Feb 2002-Jan 2003) you may borrow points from the 2003 Use Year.
