If I want to make reservations in Jan. 07 for a Dec. 07 trip, and my UY is Dec., is that considered borrowing since I won't actually have my points until Dec. 1st, 07?

No, it's not borrowing. You will be using your 2007 UY points during your 2007 UY.

The date you make the reservation has nothing to do with Use Year. It is just the period prior to your check out date...up to 11 months in advance for your home resort and 7 months in advance for all other resorts.

And the points you use only apply to the dates you are staying at the DVC resort, not to the date you call.

If you made a reservation in January, 2007 for some time prior to December, 2007 and used the points from your 2007 UY....then you would be borrowing points.

If you use points that you have in Jan 07 (that would be your Dec 06 use year), and you decide to use those point in Dec 07, you would be banking those points into the next use year. If you are using points you would be getting in Dec 07 for a Dec 07 reservation, that would be your current use year. If you use the points from Dec 08 in Dec 07, that would be borrowing.
