Borrowing points

We purchased 300 points at riv in Dec. We have a august use year. We have booked trips using our 2021 points and 2022 points for trips in 2022. I know that we can only borrow 50% but when are we able to borrow or book anything using those borrowed points?

As long as the trip occurs after the start of your 2022 UY you can book the trip borrowing points from your 2023 UY. In your case, your 2022 use year will start August 1st. So if you booked a trip now that will be occurring after August 1st you can borrow points from your 2023 UY to book that trip. The key is what points you will have in your account at the time of your trip, not at the time of booking. It’s all about when your trip takes place…that’s what determines what UY the points come from.

When you are booking the trip and get to the part where you are confirming it, it’ll automatically ask you if you want to borrow points from your 2023 UY.

With an Aug UY, you can borrow can borrow 50% of your 2023 UY points to book any trip that falls in your 2022 UY which is August 2022 through July 31st, 2023.

So, you can borrow today if booking a trip during that time.
