I am sure it is written somewhere, but I am too lazy to look and I am sure someone knows the answer to this question--

How far in advance can you borrow points? Can you borrow into 2004 or 2005?

See, I am planning, and dreaming and planning and dreaming...............

The only time you can borrow is when you make a reservation (and there is no need to borrow otherwise). Thus, if you call 11 months out you will be able to borrow from whatever use year begins after the time you are actually going. Example: Mar use year, going in Feb next year. Call in Mar to reserve and use this year's points and you can also borrow from points to be issued March 2003.

Basically you can borrow next year's points. So, depending on what use year you are currently in determines which points you can borrow.

For example, a Feb use year is currently in their 2002 year, so they can borrow their 2003 points now.
2001 = Feb 2001 thru Jan 2002
2002 = Feb 2002 thru Jan 2003
2003 = Feb 2003 thru Jan 2004
2004 = Feb 2004 thru Jan 2005

A November use year is still in their 2001 year, so they can borrow their 2002 points now.
2001 = Nov 2001 thru Oct 2002
2002 = Nov 2002 thru Oct 2003
2003 = Nov 2003 thru Oct 2004

Figure out your use year and month. Similar to the above. Then you can borrow from the next year only and those points would have to be used in the year they are borrowed into.

In the 1st example, currently in their 2002 use year, they could borrow their 2003 points to use sometime in 2002 (For them this is Feb 2002 thru Jan 2003) They cannot borrow their 2004 points for use in their 2002 use year.

In the 2nd example, currently in their 2001 use year, they could borrow their 2002 points to use sometime in their 2001 year (For them this is Nov 2001 thru Oct 2002). They cannot borrow their 2003 points into their 2001 use year.

Remember, Use year is NOT the same as calendar year. The simplest way is to think of your use year month as the January of your use year. So if JUNE were your use year, then for 2002 your year Jan-Dec is calendar June 2002 thru May 2003.

Hope this helps.

Yes, if you wish to make reservation for April 2003, you may call in May 2002 and borrow needed points from April 2004 to make the reservation.

Enjoy!

It may help if you make your own personal use year calendar. For April it would look like this:

2001 - 4-1-01 thru 3-31-02
2002 - 4-1-02 thru 3-31-03
2003 - 4-1-03 thru 3-31-04
2004 - 4-1-04 thru 3-31-05
2005 - 4-1-05 thru 3-31-06

You can bank any points from one use year into the following use year. You can borrow any points from one use year into the previous use year.

So for any reservation you want to make that is in your 2003 use year, you may borrow 2004 year points. It makes absolutely no difference what date you make the reservation itself. It only depends on the dates for the vacation period you intend to use.

So as Doc said, calling in May 2002 (11-months) for an April 2003 reservation, you may borrow 2004 points as you are simply putting them into your 2003 use year, which is one year ahead.
