Borrowing Points

I just purchased AKV this afternoon! I am very excited, however I forgot to ask a question. When borrowing points from the following year do you have to borrow all the years points? or can you borrow 20 or thirty? Also when borrowing, do you have to then pay the dues for those points up front?

You may only borrow points when actually making a reservation. MS will borrow only what is needed to complete your reservaiton.

Dues go by calendar year. You do not pay "in advance" for borrowing points.

I am probably not the best person to answer this as I am new too, but I believe that you can borrow just what you need. And that dues are paid for the year they are due, not prorated based on when you use the points. Hopefully someone with more experience will confirm, but I read through stuff about a million times, and that is how I understood it. Also if your points will expire before you have time to use them, you have to "bank" them by a certain point in time or you will have to use them (or lose them). Again if I understand correctly that is 4 months before the end of your use year (new for 2008). HOpe this helps.

By the way, you get your dues statement in Jan and they are due by mid-February. Unless you have them debited monthly from a bank account. And there is no extra cost to do that. Makes it a lot easier than coming up with all that cash right after the holidays.
