Borrowing Points Question

Hi, we are newer DVC owners and I have a borrowing question. We have a Dec. use year and currently have borrowed from 09 points so we have a remaining 50 point balance. I willl need more points for our 2010 summer vacation, so can I borrow from our 2010 points when making that reservation? How many years in advance are you able to borrow from, 1 year at a time or do they let you dip even further when borrowing?

You may borrow only one use year ahead.

Your December 2009 use year covers vacations between 12/1/2009 and 11/30/2010.

You December 2010 use year covers vacations between 12/1/2010 and 11/30/2011.

You may borrow points for a 2009 use year vacation from your 2010 use year.

You may borrow points for a 2010 use year vacatin from your 2011 use year.

A summer 2010 vacation falls within your 2009 use year, so you may borrow from your 2010 use year to pay for it.

MS will allow you to borrow 2010 UY points into 2009 UY since points may be borrowed into UY that precedes it if there will be a trip that will occur during that UY that requires additional points (ie if you didn't have enough banked &/or current UY points in the UY when the trip will happen) :
December 2009 UY covers 12/1/2009 - 11/30/2010 so that is the time frame within where your summer 2010 vacation would occur; so 2010 UY points may be borrowed into 2009 UY because the time of your trip is within 2009UY.
If you want to book at your Home Resort call at 11 months before check-in date & MS will take care of any borrowing at that time.

You would not be able to borrow more than one UY ahead according to when the trip will take place:
so if your trip is to be in Nov 2010 that will use Dec 2009 UY pts, you may also borrow Dec 2010 UY pts to cover this trip BUT you wouldn't be able to also borrow Dec 2011 pts to cover Nov 2010 trip)
