Borrowing for Preferred View and Waitlisting for Standard at BWV

OK. I will be borrowing 'some' points to book a 2br preferred view at BWV. I'd rather have a standard view and will waitlist for one. BUT if the waitlist comes through, what happens to the extra 42 points I borroweed to make the preferred ressie? Do they go into a holding account or put back in the use year I took them from?

You can ask MS to do a "point reallocation" for you so that you can use the borrowed pts first and then you can bank the 42 current year's points into the next use year (if they are within your banking window when the waitlist clears).

Once borrowed, they can never be returned.

You can add a day.....

Did you use all borrowed points?

If not, you can make sure they re-allocate the used points so that all borrowed points are used and the bank the unborrowed points.

If they are all borrowed, we are back to suggestion one, 'you can add a day'

Others will have tp post on the holding account issue, though I think that it applies if the reservation is cancelled within 60 days of arrival. As far as the borrowed points being returned to their original use year - a definite NO.

What you may request that MS do, if the dates and amount of points involved fall within your banking, schedule is to use the following scenario for the points for the standard view booking:

First apply all BORROWED points for the reservation - then,

complete the reservation using points from the PRESENT use year. Then -

Any points left over - and you should have some of this use year's points free at this point - should then be BANKED into the next use year.

OK so I have MS 'swap' the borrwed points in front of this use years points so they are used first. The if I get the waitlist request, take the 42 current use years points that were used last to make the ressie and bank them. Ressie is for March 2004 and my banking window is November 30. Hopefully the waitlist comes before then or I guess i need to cancel it so I don't lose the points if it does come through after November.

Do I have this right? I wonder what my chances are......

You have it right except that I am not sure if 11/30 is your 100% banking window or it is your last banking window before your use year end. All you have to ask MS to do is for a "point re-allocation" in order to use up the banked pts first. They know exactly what to do.
