Borrowed points - downgrade room question

Hi,

Booking rooms for BLT and have the rooms in lake view but would like to go to standard view. We arent in the room much so the view doesnt matter. If I borrowed points for the reservation then downgrade, what happens to the extra points? Are they placed back in to the original use year or do they stay in the same use year as the trip?

They stay in the new UY, but if you are using a combination of current year and borrowed points, you might be able to have MS reallocate the points used so that the borrowed points are used first. Then your current UY (non-borrowed) points left over could possibly be banked (if you haven't passed the banking deadline).
