Borrowed points and cancelled trip question...

Hi Everyone,

I have two trips planned before the end of the year and for the second trip I had to borrow 6 points from next year. If for some reason I need to cancel the second trip, I understand that I will need to use those 6 points in this current use year or lose them. Unfortunately, we are not planning on another trip for our use year and thus those 6 points will be lost.

But, could I get a CM to take those 6 borrowed points and swap them with 6 points used for our first trip so that the 6 current use year points I get back can then be banked into next year (assuming the timing is right and I can still bank points)?

I would appreciated any feedback. Thanks!

Maybe, are both trips for the same resort and points from the same UY? If so, yes. MS will be able to exchange the points such that you can bank as needed. You must be with in the banking window and need to be more than 30 days before the trip to avoid holding account points.

If you know which trip is more likely, you could call Member Services and ask them to allocate the borrowed points to that trip.

Thanks for the quick replies...sounds like I should be okay.

We have a long trip planned at the end of July and then the trip I needed to borrow the points for is for a weekend in October, hoping to catch an MNSSHP. If no MNSSHP overlaps with that trip, then I'll need to cancel it and use the points that I borrowed to replace some of the current use year points for our July trip.

Thanks again!
