What would you do?
Scenario - split stay with 3 nights at AKV, 3 nights at PVB (booked with DEC UY membership), and 4 nights at BRV (booked with AUG UY membership). Trip is past our AUG UY banking deadline and am considering cancelling the BRV reservation and banking the points, but would prefer a 7-night stay since we have 5-day park hoppers and likely will be driving.
I would like to switch to 3-4-3 and there is availability at PVB for a 4th night. I see a couple of options:
  • I have 2 pts available in DEC membership and would have to borrow 17pts.
  • Drop a night at BRV and get 16pts returned and then borrow have 3pts (already banked some 2022 pts for a fall trip and have 0 pts in AUG membership). Would then need to cross fingers that we dont have to move rooms since will have different reservations.
  • Drop a night at BRV, transfer 16pts to DEC membership and borrow 1pt then modify existing reservation.
  • Buy 17 OTU points
  • Make no changes
By the time I figure it out, the night may no longer be available…

Personally I would probably just drop the night and get the 16 pts returned and borrow 3 and hope they don't need to move rooms. I'd imagine it really shouldn't be a problem to get member services to link the reservations (hopefully). But it seems like less hassle so that's probably what I'd go for. I'd understand why you would just transfer though to avoid mess ups from MS.

I would not do the OTU points unless borrowing would make me short for a home resort booking next year.

We do rooms on our different memberships a lot and never had to move rooms…I have MS link and then when we check in, make sure we have been assigned the same room because if we had not, that is when they can fix.

It saves Disney housekeeping money to keep you in the same room . I would use any method that doesn't cost you money out of pocket or jeopardize your future use of points. Probably the same thing @Sandisw just said but in a different way.
