Hello all :goodvibes

Nice to find a group of believers here on the boards. My name is Tanya and I asked Jesus into my heart when I was eleven. I was in and out of church thru my teen years and early adult years. I didn't trully have a relationship with Him until the last few years though when I felt Him tugging at my heart. Now a day does not go by when I don't talk or spend some time with Him. I can look back on my life and see His hand guiding me all along, He is so good. My family and I go to a great church that is such a blessing!

Looking forward to "getting to know" each of you. I am so glad I found this thread!! May you all have a wonderful day. :thumbsup2

Praying for Travis.

Thanks for the prayer

to pray for Cody as well. Looks like he needs a lot of guidance. As Matthew 5:44 says, "But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you..." (NIV and quoted from www.crosswalk.com).

It's been awhile since I've been on, but I do have a praise report! My brother accepted Christ last month :woohoo: !! DBrother (34) has been an alcoholic and said the Salvation Prayer while he was drunk but as he was saying it, his words went from being slurred to crystal clear. Later that night, he accidently took one of his prescription medications about a 1/2 an hour apart (still drunk). He wound up in the ER not knowing what effect it would have on him. DH and I were at home and started an intercessary (sp?) prayer for him that took awhile and was completely guided by God. If we hadn't prayed for him the "theif" would have come to destroy.

Fast forward to early this month. DH and his PK group had prayed for him one morning and that night my Dbrother was arrested with a BAC of 3 times the legal limit on his way home from dropping his GF at home. Thank God (literally) he didn't get into an accident and hurt/kill anyone. After a night in jail, he sobered up instantly and hasn't touched a drink since (he doesn't even want to look or touch another beer again). He's now going to AA and has an appointment with a counselor next month.

I thank God for an answered prayer. I had asked God months ago that my Dbrother would get pulled over without hurting anyone, including himself, and God answered.

I accepted Christ into my heart @ a very young age (7 or 8, can't remember) and have served him since :)

I grew up in the Church of God denomination and have remained close to my roots, never experiencing a period where I was "backslid" or distant from Him. I met my best friend in 1996 @ a youth retreat and we both are 28 (she too got saved @ a young age and has maintained her relationship with Chirst) and are virgins. Yes I said it, we are virgins :scared1: :scared1: buy choice :scared1: :scared1: . She is much more vocal about that than I am but you would not believe the reactions we get when people find that out. We have both prayed (along with our parents) for our husbands, for the Lord to place them in our life and feel that if we ask the Lord to bring him to us, we want to honor God by obeying His word. Lucky for her, she has found the man that the Lord has ordained to be her soul mate, who she will spend the rest of her life with and he has an awesome relationship with the Lord and would not think of trying to get her in bed until their wedding night. A lot of people think that is weird, but we don't care. I am still praying for my mate, but I would rather wait on the Lord than try to find him myself ;)

I am just saying that I praise God for my life; what he has done for me. I am not perfect, I fail daily but in my heart, He knows that I try to live my life for him to be an example of His love, His grace and His mercy. Don't get me wrong, I strggle daily but I would have it no other way. I am going to bed now, but tomorrow I will make it my mission to read all the post, I'm sure I will be blessed to find out that I have a lot in common with the other Chirstians on this board :)

I posted this on another thread but realized this was a better place.

Our pastor is doing a 5 week series based on "In a Pit With A Lion On a Snowy Day". The series is based on Benaiah. So far we have focused on recognizing your lion and now facing your lion and trusting God to give you the strength to fight it. I plan to read the book mentioned above.

We have a new amazing pastor who has brought new life to our church. It continues to amaze me each week as the church is packed full of new faces many accepting the Lord for the first time. He really knows how to reach people and his enthusiasm keeps everyone captivated. Even DD9 would rather stay in service than go to children's church. Our youth attendance has grown dramatically. The Lord is doing amazing things in our small church!

I do have to ask for prayer though. DD9 is reaching an age where she realizes that many people do not have the same beliefs as her including different values. Up until this point she has been strong in her faith but I worry that this will not last. I don't see the pride in her Christianity I once saw. When she was younger she wore Christ on her sleeve, I just don't see this anymore. Please pray that God will give her the strength to hold true to her beliefs as she grows up and faces more challenges.

How wonderful for you and welcome to our little thread!:yay: Your enthusiasm is contagious! I too (and my DH as well) kept my virginity till I was married. It was so worth it! Good luck in finding a spouse. It is so great that you are trusting in God for this! Have a great day!

You think 9 is hard. My oldest dd is 12. She has been saved since she was 8 and this past August started middle school. I worried for months about it. She has so far held pretty strong to her beliefs but I worry daily about the influences around her. She is confronted now with issues she has never been confronted with before. I find the best line of defense is prayer! I'll pray for your dd and ask that anyone who reads this will pray for mine (her name is Cassidy if you want to get specific:rotfl: ). I also have a 6 yr old who was saved back in Feb. and baptized just this past Sunday:banana: . I do not worry about her half as much. The pre teen and teen yrs are so hard, espicially for girls I think. All we can do is lead them and nurture them in our faith, help them to discover and find their own faith, and pray ALOT!!!!

Hello Friends!:goodvibes
Long time since this thread has been active!!

I was wondering if any of you have been to the House of Blues Gospel Brunch.

How was it?
The menu looks yummy.
So I am wondering about the Spiritual side of it.
Is there a sermon? Praying? Or just lots of singing?
Is it interactive, or one man talking?

Any details, comments, suggestions, input would be great, as we are thinking about doing it on our trip to Disneyland next week.

Thanks!

:cool1: HI Everyone:

It has been a longtime since I have seen this thread.
I am praying for Cassidy. I too need prayer. Our church lost
our fantastic pastor after he suddenly became ill and passed away.
To say it was a shock to all of our members is putting it mildly.
He was never ill. I have belonged to this church for 28 years. We have many members who have been here longer; and we are all stunned. For 28
years he was more than just my pastor. He was my friend, counsellor, prayer
partner and teacher. In all that time, I never saw him get angry with anyone,
say anything negative about any one, or bring a message that was not
uplifting. I know he is in a better place now; and that God in his mercy took him home very quick. However for the rest of us this will take some period of adjustment; and for his family as well, who are grieving a lot more than any of us!

Sorry to hear of the passing of your friend & mentor! I have said a word of prayer for you & your church! May the Lord send a new pastor who had as much love & wisdom as your previous one did.

And Jamimbe, it's been many months since you last posted....how is Cassidy? My son is also 12, in middle school & is turning into a bit of a monster (used loosely of course!!) He know jokes about girls, cigerattes & booze...I'm sure to get a rise out of me & it's working! He's a good boy with good grades but he hates that I don't allow certain music, movies & games in the house & he constantly fights me on these issues.

Pray that the Lord would give me strength to stand my ground on these things & to protect my son from outside influences as well. And pray for my second son who will start middle school next year.....two of them going through this at the same time....PRAY BIG TIME FOR ME!!!

Have a blessed day everyone!

Dear PTA Mom:
Thank you for your prayers! They are greatly appreciated. I will keep you son and Cassidy in my prayers. As someone who has taught middle school for over 25 years, this is a critical time as now the things we have taught them come into play. As they spend more time with their peers they are exposed to many things that are not pleasing to us. I am asking God to strenghten you. Everyday put the blood of Jesus over them and place them is God's hands. The things you have taught them will sustain them; but being human, they want to test their boundaries. My children as teens really tried to get me to allow certain things and were upset with no you can't. Today as parents they often find themselves doing the samething; because now they have a much different view.

I'm a believer, and just looking around on this board for things Christian around Disney, I came across this.

We had a great trip to WDW in 4/07, and will be going again in 7/09 (my husband & I, DD7&11, and my parents). We're counting down the days, wearing our Disney PJs to keep us psyched up as we wait.

I was wondering if anyone has had a good worship experience in a church real close to Disney?
