My wonderful bride just gave me the go-ahead to start planning our next trip to WDW:banana:. We have stayed at our home Saratoga Sprins 4 times and BLT 1 time. We are looking to stay at BWV to try something new. My questions are probably unlimited but I'll stick with a few. Do you know why it is less points to stay at BWV rather than my home of SS in a one bedroom. Is there any specific room request or section request that I should do. Any other suggestions are definately needed and appreciated. Thanks

About 85% of the rooms are "preferred" point cost (either boardwalk view or pool/garden). The others are standard view (view of front drive and parking lot in distance or tennis court). Boardwalk was the second WDW resort and originally had one point structure but then changed to allow for lower cost standard view after numerous complaints and those points were set a long time ago. It is the standard views that are lower than SSR. It is also the standard view that can be hard to get at 7 months out because owners can fill them at 11 months out. If you are lucky enough to get standard view, request high floor, away from the elevators, across from bus stop to get view over roof of high fireworks at Epcot. If you would rather just be close to pool, bus stop and front area request close to elevator.

Best view is preferred boardwalk view which is a guaranteed booking category (personal view is that it is better than BLT MK view). So if you are willing to spend higher points try for that but those can also go often before 7 months out (they are also only about 15% of all rooms).

We just got back from BWV's and had a 1 bedroom standard view on the 1st floor. It was quite nice, we were looking at the bus stop, very close to both a quite pool and theme'd pool and it wasn't bad to get to the boardwalk either. I have heard the downside of BWV is that they only have one set of elevators, so the higher floors away from the elevators can make getting in and out (not using stairs) harder.

People do complain about the long hallways, but personally I like them much better than being outside in the heat and sun for a long walk to our room or around the resort.

If you do want a Boardwalk view, consider not staying lobby level, but a floor or two up so that you don't have the hustle bustle of the boardwalk right there. BW view is really nice, but we always go for the standard, cause they ain't bad either :) and they save us on points.

We really love the BWV, it's our favorite and thereby the home resort we own at with the most points. The location is awesome!

I just made reservations for a standard studio 6 months out and got it. We stayed in a studio last month and thought the first floor, end of hallway was great since we could easily walk out to the quiet pool and car.
Good luck!

Anyone has pictures of the view from these fireworks viewing Standard rooms?

I wouldn't count on views of fireworks from the standard view rooms. Many of them have trees in front of the balcony. You only see the high ones (most of the show is blocked by the Boardwalk Inn and landscaping).

But as was said, high floor, far from the elevator are your best chance of a good view. HOWEVER, these are also among the least convenient rooms at the BWV - especially if you aren't up to taking stairs.

My family rented DVC points for our FIRST EVER stay @BWV in March 2012!!! :cloud9:
We will have TWO standard view studios.
