Who has one? Pros, cons? The price is a big Pro ($99) I've also heard it "feels best" in the hands (it has a rubbery quilted back). All I need it for is reading books- I don't care about browsing the internet.

I'd be a little concerned about the fact that Borders filed Chapter 11...may make it obsolete rather quickly.

I was going to say the same thing.

You can buy covers for Kindle/Nook that are rubbery/smooth.

Agree with above posters. The new wifi Kindle is only $139 and I think the Nook version is $149. I'd go ahead and buy one of them before I'd buy the Kobo.

I have a Kobo, but mine is from another source. I am not quite sure about the features offered on competing brands, but here are the pros of the purchase: price; simple controls; size of screen and ability to change fonts (like this a lot); apparently Kobos can be used to read borrowed ebooks from my local library system--you would have to check with your library; ability to use large ebook store for purchases; my Kobo came loaded with 100 'free' books and has a slot for a memory chip to increase storage capacity. On the cons side of the purchase: Kobo's technical support is OK, but not terrific (I am used to Apple); Kobo's website has a really clunky search engine, at least in Canada, so looking for an ebook is best done through their affiliated brick and mortar bookstore's website, Chapters Indigo; the speed of page turning feels slow to a fast reader, and it is easy to flip forward two pages by mistake.
As to the feel of the quilted back of the Kobo--I didn't see that as a selling feature--I purchased and installed a skin on both the front and back of the Kobo, because I felt the cover would become very grubby with use.

Count me in too as somebody that would be really worried about Borders not being around in the very near future. They have already closed several stores in our area.

I would spend the extra $40 or $50 and purchase the kindle or nook.

I am not familiar with the Nook, but the customer service for the Kindle is outstanding. I got my Kindle for Christmas. DS sat on it by accident a couple of months later, rendering it useless. Amazon overnighted me a new one. They e-mailed me a shipping label and I just used the box the new one came in (per customer service), attached the label and had UPS come pick it up.

I have heard the Nook has similar excellent service.

Definitely worth the extra $40-$50 to get an e-reader with a customer service dept that has not filed chapter 11.
