Does anyone have any experience with this? It is a very confusing topic to read about on the Internet and I would really like some info...

A very good friend of mine recently m/c at 9 weeks, and it was found that she had a "solid mass" cyst on her right ovary that has been classified as a borderline carcinoma. They removed it and sent it to Mayo, but I would love to know if anyone knows anything about this.

Thanks.

Like what is it that you want to know? It will depend on the type of cells that make up the cyst that will allow them to decide how they are going to further treat her. Do you know the size of the mass? Did they remove both ovaries?

The mass was a size of a baseball and they were able to leave her ovaries for the time being...

I guess I want to know the chances of this really being cancer vs. a scary but ultimately benign growth...

Unfortunately, I have a great deal of experience with ovarian cancer. When it comes to predicting whether the mass may be benign or malignant, only her Drs can say. Was a biopsy done at the time? How long has it been since then? If you'd like information feel free to PM me

They should be doing (have done) a CA-125 blood test. If the number is much above zero it indicates presence of cancer cells.
