border to Buffalo tomorrow-Dec 18th

my daughter is insisting that her DH drive her to Buffalo tomorrow (early afternoon - 2:00ish) so that she can buy a particular gift for my DH. Her intentions are to hit the shop for the gift, have a meal, see the Cavalcade of Lights and then directly home.
I would imagine that the wait to cross ANY of the borders in the afternoon would be horrendous. She doesn't think so....... any thoughts? Anyone ever crossed the weekend before Christmas?

Your best bet is the Peace Bridge. The busiest bridge is the Queenston bridge because it is the closest to Toronto and GPS take it everyone there.
