Tomorrow I'll be crossing the border at approximately 4:30 p.m. at Queenston/Lewiston or Fort Erie. Can anyone advise as to which would be the better bridge to cross at. We won't be able to use the Nexus lane as not everyone has a pass. We are heading down to Disney with stops in Charleston, SC and Savanna.
I had initially planned to leave at 5:00 a.m. but my son decided at the last minute that he's able to join us but we can't leave until after a necessary doctor's appointment that afternoon. TIA.

Queenston/ Lewiston as far as I know has a lot of specialty traffic that can only go over it- imports etc. So personally I avoid it if I can. I've generally had better experiences at the Fort Erie bridge, especially when coming back from shopping in the U.S. The border guards are pretty nice there. But no matter where you are, you're going to hit traffic at 4:30.

Good luck and have fun!

This link gives wait times, if you have Twitter you can follow @NiagaraBridges for real time updates as well - check as you are thru St Catherines & decide which is moving quickest. Don't forget Rainbow Bridge as an option - it often had the shortest wait. It's just a short drive to link up with the I90 from Rainbow.

Note.. I was down to Buffalo in July over Canada Day, Queenston/Lewiston was fine when we crossed at 3pm - but there is a fair bit of construction going on there right now, mostly on the U.S. plaza site.

Fort Erie is your best option. There is rarely any sizable amount of traffic and even if it is backed up it moves very quickly. Plus, that is actually the direction you are traveling. Queenston is out of your way. If you happen to be a Timmies fan you can get one at the Fort Erie duty free(Canadian side)....after that the last one you will see is in Erie, Pa. at the Peach St. exit. Clearly it's a big deal to me, since I know this useless info:thumbsup2

I agree with checking the wait times around St. Cath...we always do that.

Thanks for all your responses. We'll definitely hit the Tim's as we're big fans too.
