As to the rabies - the last I checked, my state requires the rabies vaccine to be given on a yearly basis. However, all the local vets, I know because I've called around, use a 3 yr. vaccine. So when I board the kennels go by what the law is. I can't fault them and I can't fault the vet either. I think it's one of those stupid laws you always read about - can't walk your through the courthouse and the like.
I'm another that is cautious with vaccines. I had a whippett who at the age of 8 had a terrible reaction to her vaccines. That was the last time I had Miranda vaccinated. She lived to be 2 weeks shy of her 17the birthday.
***Money saving tip - except for the rabies vaccine, you can vaccinate your dog yourself. I've vaccinated all our dogs myself for a couple years now.
