DW and I are bar/counter people and 'demand' that you add this option so that we are not unfairly omitted or forced to vote for the 'lesser of two evils". ;)

sounds like you are just alcoholics ...:)

Where is the option for you get what you get and you don't get upset. I never understand when people cause a stink at a restaurant because they want a booth or a table or not near the kitchen or not near a ac vent, etc, etc. Can you tell I worked in restaurants for way too long ;) There is usually a very good reason you are put where you are put. So take it, sit down, eat and be merry!

So my vote...whatever is available.

I think most of us would simply wait until there was a booth available if that's what we wanted. Same as waiting a little longer to be seated in a non-smoking area (even though that's becoming less of an issue since many places are all non-smoking now).
I can speak for myself and say that I've never caused a stink over the situation. I usually prefer to sit in a booth, but I politely let the host(ess) know up front that we're willing to wait a little longer for it. It's never been a problem for us. I know though that there are people who will get all the way to their table and decide then that they would rather have a booth. I agree with you that it's rude and inconsiderate to the restaurant staff...

I prefer a booth but most of the time when we go out we have to get a table. My dh, stepdad and a good friend all have what we affectionately call "booth belly". Their bellies just don't fit in a booth.

Wouldn't that be an anti-booth belly? ;)

i prefer a booth. But will take a table if there's nothing else. I don't like to sit with my back to what's going on. I like to see what's going on. :)

Hmm. Myabe because we're paying for the experience of being served in a restaurant?
I remember one time, we were set under a vent and when the air came on, dust from the vent fell onto us, our table and food. Yes, we asked to be moved while we tried to finish eating. And then never returned to said restaurant.

I also don't like sitting under vents because I tend to get cold. Nothing like sitting in a restaurant while shivering and goose bumps all over you. That's an enjoyable experience. Not.

Some people don't like sitting near any doors because of traffic and the fact that people going by you constantly cause the air to stir and can make you and your food cold.

My vote is going to along with most of the crowd. I find booths more private and also a lot more comfortable.

I voted both, but I don't really care that much. In general, I like booths better when our whole family is out.

Although if it's just my wife and me eating, I think I'd prefer a table.
