booster seat/stroller question

I am a single mom heading to WDW with two 4 year olds. I know I can gate check my stroller, but does it need to be in a bag? I don't have one and don't plan to travel with the stroller much so I really don't want to spend more money unless everyone thinks it is really necessary. Also, my girls are big enough to use booster seats. Can I take them on the plane and put them in the overhead bin? They are evenflo amp no back boosters. So basically a seat with arms. From what I read, it doesn't sound like I can use them since they have- not for use with lap belt- printed on them. IF I decide to check them at the ticket counter(flying air tran), do I need to bring a bag? Can a regular duffle bag be used? I don't have a special bag for them. I was just concerned that it would look too much like regular luggage and they would want to charge me.

Unless things have changed you should be able to gate check all three items. We flew in 2009 on Airtran and gate checked our stroller and two backless boosters. No problems and no extra charges. I did buy a bag for our upcoming trip simply because the boosters did get a bit dirty last time.

Hope this helps and have a great trip!

I have only gate checked items on direct flights. If you have a connecting flight, do you have to take the items to the gate agent when you land in the connecting city to get new gate check tags and sticker for your destination city?

If you gate check these items, you'll have to pick them up when you get off the plane and gate check them again on your connecting flight. It would be easier to check the boosters as regular baggage.

You can put the booster seats in whatever you please - a duffle bag is fine if they fit. You don't need to cover your stroller, but it adds an extra layer of protection against dirt and tears.

No, you can't use booster seats on a plane.

Since you don't need the boosters on the plane, just check them at the ticket counter. There is no reason to haul them all the way down the concourse. Most airlines have large clear plastic bags that they place them in to protect from dirt, but you should be able to procur a big heavy duty trash bag from home otherwise. They will check it at the ticket counter and you will pick up the booster seats at baggage claim with the rest of your checked bags.

I would take them on the plane and put them overhead (the previous posters are right that you can't use them on the plane) to avoid the risk of damage to the boosters. Luggage agents are not known for being gentle with luggage, and car seats are no exception to that! :twocents:
