We got new phones. They come in great everwhere except for in the house. Ugh. Dropped calls galore, and don't even think about standing in the kitchen! I am looking for something that will boost the signal in our house, but I don't even know what to start looking for. We have sprint, and they sell something you hook into your modem or something, but its 100, and then they charge you 5 bucks a month for it. No way!:headache:

No answers for you, but thought I would bump and commiserate. Three of us got new phones w/Sprint. Our in house signal stinks and, like you, can't call from the kitchen or lower level. My husband has an older Blackberry with Sprint and his signal is fine. Our old phones were through Nextel and NEVER had a signal issue or dropped calls. Further, we are always in a "roaming" situation--or at least oftentimes--which I guess is neither here nor there because there is no such thing as "roaming" in the plan. I had better service texting and phoning from Disney to home in MI than I do from home to 15 miles away. It is really driving me nuts too because who wants to go outside in the cold to make a call! :scared1:

A Sprint rep said that she checked our signal and it was "average", but she could boost it with the same product you mentioned. I declined as well. :headache:

Maybe someone will come along with an answer for us.

Search Google. There are all sorts of signal boosters. Some get pricey. Some work better than others depending on how your home is built and what features it has. For instance, radiant roof barriers can often cause signal problems (as is the case with our house).

We just got rid of sprint. We had Nextel for years with very little problems, once sprint took over it was one headache after another. They offered us free "hybrid" phones that did not work any better and were the crappiest phones we have ever owned.
We just got Verizon and while the reception is a little better we do still get dropped calls. DH called them and they said they just bought Alltell and are working on the towers. They tried fixing us up with the closest Alltell tower (they really did as we could see our strengh signal getting better and then going back down) called today and said that the tower has problems and they are working on fixing it, they gave DH a date that they expect it to be fixed.

We would normaly have 30 days from the day that we got this service contract to change our minds return the phones and get out of the contract. But since we have been having problems with service and let them know about it, if they cannot get our service working like it should in our home we can get out of the contract after the 30 day mark.
