hi all i'm so unhappy today :(

We were planning a super surprise christmas trip to DLP this coming weekend, my DD fell in school last week and hurt her foot, took her to A&E and were told its not broken and to get her to walk on it, so we thought it will be ok by the time we go on our trip but she has been in so much pain with it and its swollen and still cant walk on it so we took her back to the hospital today to get it checked and we were told that she had actually broken 2 bones in her foot!!!!! :scared1:

I was so not happy that this error was made but we did get an apology from the senior consultant and told he would make sure personally that it would never happen again.

I feel so guilty as ive been nagging her to walk on it like we were told :(

Plus shes now in a cast up to her knee and she's trying to use the crutches so our surprise trip has now been cancelled :( theres no way she could manage it

now i feel guilty for feeling disapointed about our trip ( it was going to be our first ever time in dlp at christmas) but i'm glad that we were keeping it a secret and hadnt told the kids.

:( end of moan lol never mind just hope she heals quickly and we can always go another time.

xx

What a shame! :scared1::scared1::scared1:

Its so hard being a parent sometimes! At least you haven't had to disappoint the kids as well- but I do feel for you as my DD is the same age! I can only imagine how many hormonal strops and 'I told you so' looks I'd have to endure in the same circumstances!

I suggest a big pair or disney socks to cover up her poor old toes! and a secret smile whenever she wears them!

good luck with the replanning!

I really feel for you, you shouldn't feel guilty about being dissappointed, we were very nearly in the same position last year.

My daughter (it was nearly her 10th b/day) fell and smashed her face into a wall the night before we were leaving for our trip to DLP for Halloween last year. She broke her 2 front teeth (adult ones) and in the words of the consultant "smashed the bones of her nose". When my husband came back that night from the hospital I thought we were going to have to cancel our trip. Next day our dentist put caps on her teeth, and the hospital said, that as we were not flying, there should be no reason why we could not go. So we hastily packed the car and left all within 24 hours of this happening :)

Obviously, she couldn't do the rides she wanted, as we knew that there could have been too much pressure on her nose, and she refused to go upto characters to get photos (she had 2 black eyes and a swollen bruised nose) But we had a fantastic trip, as I just kept thinking how lucky we were that we still managed to go (and of course that she was fine) I would have hated to have had to cancel the trip.

Hopefully your daughter will be up and around before you know it, and the next trip will be booked and will give you something to look ahead to :)

Oh your poor DD I hope she recovers quickly!

I know you are disappointed but I strongly believe everything happens for a reason and even though you are really disappointed now your next trip will be worth the wait x

That is so sad :sad1: I hope she recovers soon.

Thank you so much for posting though, it's made up my mind not to tell my girls about our trip until the day before we go in case something similar happens! Neither of them have had chickenpox and it's doing the rounds :scared1:

Yes, think positively...Christmas next year could be even better with the 20th anniversary celebrations

aww your poor DD, hope she gets better soon :goodvibes I know what it's like to have a christmas trip cancelled beyond your control (ours was due to snow 2 years ago the night before we were due to go :sad2:) so I can sympathise with you!

Christmas will come around again (probably feeling quicker than it should do!) so at least you can have something to look forward to, or make another surprise trip early next year when she's better :thumbsup2

Aw what a shame, hope your DD recovers quickly and that you soon manage to rebook.
