Well it seems that i have a different taste in books than everyone else since for one i dont like the harry potter books 
i know i know im sorry!
My all time favorite book is War of the Rats- Its about the battle of Stalingrad in WWII and was also made into the movie Enemy at the Gate, but read the book because the movie sucks compared to it.
I also liked The Things They Carried- Its another war book about one soldiers experiences during the Vietnam War.
All The King's Men by Robert Penn Warren- I thought this book was pretty good although it was extremely long and confusing at times but once you get into it its good.
OF Mice and Men
The Chosen by Chiam Potok is also a really good book
i know there are more but thats all i can think of for now.....
