I love looking at Yesterland and reading about all the past Disneyland attractions. Is there a good book you would recommend that covers the history or current Disneyland attractions?

My copy of the new updated Disneyland Encyclopedia was just shipped yesterday:cool1:. I borrowed the older version from the library and it gave a good account of all the rides and restaurants from the day the park opened till present.

I just got mine too. I have the first one, but wanted the updated one too. DH actually taught school with him several years ago but didn't tell me until the end of the school year and Chris didn't come back! I could have sent my first book to school to be signed! Anyway, love that book!

I like Disneyland, Then, Now and Forever. The beginnings, traditions, rides, through years. Light reading and lots of pictures and sketches.

I didn't have time before to dig out all my books. Here is what else I have:

Imagineering
Disneyland Then, Now, and Forever
Disneyland From Once Upon a Time to Happily Ever After (lots of good then and now pictures)
Behind the Magic- 50 years of Disneyland
Imagineering Legends
Designing Disney

I also have two attraction books- one for HM and one for POTC. Each tells the history of the ride, the story the ride tells, and how they are different in each Disney park.

I just love books on Disneyland history and can't get enough. Especially the ones with good pictures!

An outstanding one-- but extremely hard to find-- is Disneyland: The Nickel Tour (2nd edition). It's a complete history of the park up through the year 2000, and the level of detail in it is amazing. It's beautifully bound and printed; it looks for all the world like an academic textbook about DL. I just picked up a used copy on eBay and am thoroughly enjoying it. It is QUITE spendy, though, because there were only a few thousand printed and it's been out of print for quite some time.

The holy grail of DL books! I keep hoping I'll find one at the bottom of a box of books at a garage sale! :rotfl:

The Disneyland Encyclopedia (2nd Edition) received a positive review from Werner Weiss, from Yesterland. :thumbsup2

There is also an attraction book for the "mountains" of Disney. The Disney Mountains: Imagineering At Its Peak Disneyland: Matterhorn Bobsleds, Space Mountain – old and new, Splash Mountain; Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Never built: Big Rock Candy Mountain and the Western River Expedition

I'm a slow reader, but read all the "attraction" books in about 2 days.

Wow, that is one expensive book! The acceptable ones on Amazon start around $35, with new ones starting at over $100!
