Day 5 - 21 September - MGM
We were already missing the parks so we got up very early today and decided to go to MGM. DH skipped breakfast as he knew I would be making him come on ToT and RnR with me and he gets queasy just thinking about rides like these!
This was our first time here and we just loved it, the Art Deco entrance, the cars, the shops, the streets, it was awesome! So many of you have said that the beauty of Disney is in the details and that is so true! I tried to take in as much as I could as I dragged DH down Sunset Boulevard to ride ToT. I had been looking forward to this ride for quite a while. As I look back now it seems a bit sadistic of me to have asked DH to come on with me but I really did think that once he was strapped in that he would enjoy it. I really loved it! I was quite proud that DH didn't scream like almost everyone else in our 'lift' did! I laughed all the way through it, it was fabulous.
As a side note to this, did you all know that Disneyland Paris is currently building Tower of Terror?!!!!!! It will be ready in 2008, am so looking forward to that, 3 hours from all that fun! I read an article from Paris Match on Friday and they were talking about ToT and the new bit to the Studios they are adding in 2007, some car ride to do with a new Pixar movie coming out next year called 'Cars' and a Finding Nemo ride, similar to Space Mountain but with an aquatic theme - and you ride on the turtles back just like in the movie!
OK, back to MGM. Needless to say DH said he was glad he tried it out but that he didn't think he'd do it again. So we thought we'd try RnR. He was a bit nervous again (he really hates heights) but as it was in the dark he was quite happy with that ride and so was I as I loved it, the take-off was just incredible! If you haven't already guessed, I love fast rides
We then had a bit of a wander around the park. It's such a nice size park too, you can easily see everything in a day. We then decided to do the Great Movie Ride. I loved this so much, especially the scenes from Munchkin land, it was so beautiful and colourful, I kept singing that song most of the day (just couldn't get it out of my head!).
We then did the Backlot Tour and saw a bit of the Stunt show as we had to stop midway through Backlot Tour and it happened to be behind where they were doing the Stunt show. Two shows for one! Catastrophe Canyon (I think that's what its called) was great and luckily we weren't sitting on the left and didn't get wet!
We had a bit of lunch and walked around a bit more but left early as it had been raining off and on all morning and by the afternoon it was now raining harder and the things we wanted to see (Indiana Jones, Parade and Fantasmic) would not have been as good with all the wetness. So we left around 2pm and waited for the rain to die down before we could get in our daily swim!
Day 6 - Shopping
I won't go into too much detail about what we did Thursday, basically we shopped for England. I had the stupid idea back home that I would buy everyone's Christmas gifts in Florida as it would be cheaper and I could probably get some unique things that they wouldn't have in London. So we shopped and shopped and I bought and bought! We really did get some great deals. Especially DVD's. Some movies were about the same as here but things like Lost (the whole first series) was less than $40 (don't buy the series here btw, they have split it into part 1 and part 2 which means you pay twice as much, order it from amazon.com, even with $7 postage its cheaper) and Everybody Loves Raymond were a bargain compared with the prices here.
Almost everyone in the shops/stores we went to was British. I hardly met any Americans! It was like being at Brent Cross on a Saturday afternoon, heaps of people buying heaps of stuff and none of them speaking in an American accent! They obviously all had the same idea we did!
