Hi, I have seen some flights for May 2010 with VA at a price I am happy with. Before I booked I just wanted to check a couple of (probably obvious) things with other Dis-ers who have used VA.

Query No 1: With VA when booking I would pay the full amount of the flight as opposed to only a deposit with VH?

No 2: Pay using a credit card so that I will be covered 'just in case' - flight only is not ATOL protected?

No 3: Being issued with an 'e-ticket', has anyone had any problems with this?

Any answers to my questions appreciated and any other tips that might be useful re VA. I am all of a dither and can't think straight, the thought of actually booking makes the holiday seem real (even though we've booked other parts already!) add to that my fear of flying and I feel physically sick

Yup full payment up front

Yes credit card makes it more secure, although there will be a small fee of about 1%

No problems at all and had an e-ticket 3 or 4 times now

Claire ;)

Hi

1. VA - yes you have to pay the full amount :upsidedow

2. Yes pay by credit card - it should also help out point number 1!:thumbsup2

3. Never heard of any problems - only charter airlines use paper tickets these days all scheduled airlines use e-tickets - I have never had a problem :goodvibes

:thumbsup2 Thanks for the quick replies - I think I was looking for a reason not to book - anything to put it off for a while longer ;) I've not flown since 2007 and i've realised tonight that my fear of flying has definitely got worse.

I've booked! I'm feeling a mixture of excitement and dread, but now that its definite, I can't wait to see the castle at MK again - thats when i'll really believe i'm there :goodvibes

I love the booking part, its so exciting and thats when the countdown really begins.....:woohoo:

I too am not a lover of flying, not to the point where I cant get onto an aircraft though. I especially hate turbulence but it has always helped me to meet the pilot before take off (I dont need to do it anymore now though...:rotfl:). I get some kind of relief by seeing the actual person who is in charge of my life for the next 9 hours and hearing about their family and stuff! My way of dealing with it is probably really stupid but I think about the crew and their children etc and think well if they do this for a living then it must be ok...:confused3

I also find listening to my ipod for take off helps MASSIVELY (Now I am very sorry about this and I know I shouldnt do it, but the different sounds scare me so much!) and then I relax when the crew are released from their seats!

Probably wont be much use to you but if it can help a little then I will be happy...:thumbsup2

Flying out 29th April - returning 20th May :goodvibes The way things are going I don't know if I can spare a day out of our timetable to get married :lmao:

Lisa, I did find my ipod was a help last time (after an hours crying first!) this time I will be relying on DD who will be three and a half to keep me occupied ;)
