If I book a flight with SW, how do I know it's a SW plane and not AirTran? I believe there are different rules (seating, bags) for both airlines.

It will say underneath the flight number "operated by Airtran".

I've heard that you would still get the two free bags. The seat issue seems to still be in question though.

On the booking screen, or confirmation screen (not sure which), you'll see a notice that the flight(s) you chose are operated by SW or Airtran. That way you know which it is before paying.
