Anyone know what the likelihood is we could snag a studio at 7 mos. at VGC for April 2013 (Mass. spring vacation)? Wondered if anyone did so this year at 7 mo. mark over that same week, and if so, if you had to wait list etc.?

Point values going through Disney Collection are too high--it's DVC or nothing for us. Thanks.

I think that late April should be fine, but you'll be competing against me :rotfl2:
I'll try to book April '13 at the VGC too.

You chances will be more if you'll be able to be flexible. Are your dates set in stone? Last April should be easier, since there will not be spring break during that period.
I'll be online at 8:00 am eastern time starting from half September every day and I'll book the first date I'll be able to, that includes 2 week end night (Fri-Sun, or Sat-Mon), to be able to see the shows that run only in the weekend during low season.
However, even with this flexibility I know it will not be easy.

I can only speak about April 2011, but I had an owner of a DVC in WDW book me one week (well, check in Sunday, check out Friday), April 10-15, 2011 in early December 2010 (confirmation was emailed to me on December 2, 2010). So, 4 months from the vacation date.

It was a studio too.

Good luck to you, too, then! Yes, dates are set. We want to go the entire MA vacation week (usually 3rd week in April, so week of 4/13-4/20/13). Hadn't thought about booking day by day, but afraid to since we have BWV (our home resort) as a back-up and if I get a couple days but not the rest as the week passes, we'll have cancelled our BWV those first few nights to get VGC and won't be able to get them back--we'll literally have 1/2 a vacation booked on either coast! :rotfl:

Like you, I wondered if by it not being top spring break season that it'll be easier (Easter is the week before) or is it just so limited there for rooms that you're SOL at 7 mos. unless you own...

Wonder if anyone else had experience booking 3rd week of April at VGC for 2012?

Since you own at BWV you could try to make an arrangment for a reservation swap.
BWV value and Boardwalk view rooms are in high demand and not easy to book at the 7 month window. You might be able to find a VGC owner who wants to book at BWV: they'll book you vacation at Disneyland and you'll book their at WDW.
It would require a bit of trust for each other, but it can work.

I own SSR and I have very little chance to get a swap this way, I'll have to count on my luck! :rotfl2:

Didn't think of that...great idea  in theory but I don't know any VGC owners, unfortunately...:confused3 That would've been a good plan....

I don't know if on the rental board a "swap request" post is permitted. Maybe a moderator can tell us more.
To post on that board you must meet some requirements, but if you have it I don't think it should be a problem to post your request to see if any VGC owner is interested. I don't think it's much different from a rent offering, you are just paid with points instead of money.
Be sure to read the sticky posts.

We booked a one bedroom for 4/15 - 4/20 this year at the 7 month mark. No problem, no wait list.

Wow!:goodvibes I like the sound of that! That was spring break week for MA this year, so that's a good sign!

Of course, getting 7 month reservations at VGC before June 15th, 2012 is completely different from getting 7 month reservations at VGC after June 15th, 2012.

My DVC owner friend had to "walk" his reservation for a November 2012 stay after finding that nothing more than a day or two here and there had Studio availability at the 7 month mark. He got what he wanted by walking it.

I had thought of that, but unfortunately we don't have the points to walk it AND keep our reservation for BWV in case VGC doesn't work out that way for the exact dates we ultimately want...

I am very interested in this topic as well. We currently have a March 9 to March 16, 2013 reservation for a 2B at BLT that I so very much want to convert to a March 10 to March 15 reservation for a 2B at GCV.

I have my fingers crossed!
