Booking thru Orbitz vs. Disney directly

Personally, I check Orbitz first for anything before going to Disney. With that 15% off coupon and the same discount rate offered by Disney during their promos, I usually save more if not at least in what I pay in taxes.

I've booked with Orbitz twice, only because with their coupon I was able to get another $150 off. My stay for 6 night stay in AKL was about $1500 last October with discount and coupons. Because I had an account I got $100ish in Orbitz bucks! So when I booked my 4 night stay in ASMu in May, I only paid $350 by applying my Orbitz bucks and coupon code on the already discounted room.

I've never had any problems with Orbitz. As soon as I book it, I get a reservation code, and link it to my MDE. The only perks you loose out on are Disney Dining Plans, you still get all the perks at being as a Disney resort like DME. I've also had the luck of having all of my room requests met, but those are done within MDE and not through Orbitz.

Some of the comments about savings in this thread are old (it was from 2011) so booking with Orbitz has become more normal than it was then.
