Chef Mickey's has availability for a 3top but not 2ppl
Anyone ever book for 3 and at the podium tell them 1 person didnt show up?

I have the same dilemma with two other restaurants. They have plenty of openings for 4-tops but nothing for a single diner. I don't understand why they can't book you if they have openings.

It's a small lie and probably not that important in the grand scheme of things. I think you just have to go with the way you feel. I don't feel comfortable about lying about my party size so that leaves me out in the cold.

Hope you have a great trip. Good luck with Chef Mickeys. I really enjoy it since that's a great place to see Goofy!

This is a problem that has come up on these boards before. It seems to me, that if Disney wants to tout itself as the "Honeymoon Capitol of the World", they should have more tables for two available in it's restaurants. I understand the reasoning behind having more tables of 4 or more, ($$$$$$$$$ from families), but it is still a pain when couples try to plan their AR's. Also, I bet that my DW and I probably drop more on a dinner than the average family of four, so maybe we should just take a reservation for 4!

Hi! I just had this come up yesterday when I was making an ADR. I was told by the cast member there was nothing for 2 people, but there were tables for 3 available. She went ahead and booked the ADR for 3 people (without me asking) and just mentioned if our third person couldn't make it that day to let them know at the podium. This is our first trip to Disney and it's our anniversary, so maybe she felt sorry for us! Anyway, I don't see a problem with booking it that way since it was their idea. Although, I never would have even considered it if it wasn't mentioned by Disney and it was the 1 restaurant we really wanted to go to! We have the free dining promotion also, so technically we're probably saving them money since there's only 2 of us and some other group may have booked it with 4 people on the free dining plan (just kidding!). Good Luck with your choices!

My CM did the same thing that rocky41102's did when I made some of my ADR's. I wanted to book Le Cellier for me and my Hubby and she said that the place was booked for the night. Then suddenly she said "wait a minute, let me try for three." And then BAM! there was an opening. It all happend so fast that I barely got a word in either way. I was happy that I got what I wanted and I felt that I did no wrong because it was the CM that was bending the rules (if that is even the correct way to think about it). So I hung up content and happy and feeling that I did no wrong.

That's my story and I stickin' to it.

I've been trying to book an early dinner at Cinderella's Royal Table with no luck. Yesterday, a VERY NICE cm told me they don't have a cancellation policy, so she suggested ( indirectly, which was quite amusing as she "led me down the path"..LOL!) that we book a table for three and then explain that our third person couldn't show up, for whatever reason.

I never would have considered this option, but she was great and said that it was a non-busy night at a very early time, so it was not that big a deal. :cool1:

I made all my reservations for 5 people. I did not change my reservations when the 5th person could not come with us. When I went up to the podium at each restaurant, I just told them we were a party of 4. There was never any problem.

Add me to the helpful CM list, LOL

I needed a table for 3 at the PSB, and a table for 5 popped onto the screen just as the CM was telling me there was nothing available. I took it, and she suggested that I call and modify it a week or two later. Said it was totally fine to do that :)

We had this problem two years ago the night of MVMCP. We wanted to dine at CRT and we were told no tables for 2 but there were tables for 4. So, we snagged the reservations and I put a post on a Disney board asking if there were any couples who wanted to dine at CRT that date before MVMCP and couldn't get a reservation. A very nice couple responded to the pst and we ended up dining with them. It was actually alot of fun to share a meal with other Disney fans. If we are in the same situation again regarding a hard to get reservation, we would do the same thing again. Have a great vacation!!!

I say book it.

I have had experiences where disney dining tells me fully booked, the front desk/guest services says no availability. We went to the restaurant ourselves, before opening and talked with hostess. There was room, she said I will book you at a 4 top, just tell them when you arrive there are only two.

Well, what do you know..when we got seated we didn't get that nice big 4top, we got a teeny tiny 2 person table..so, hubby and I decided we will no longer play disney dining games.

We wanted to grab dinner at Boatwrights the last time we stayed at POR then go over to MK for the fireworks. It was Spring Break so I thought we might need a PS to get in and out quickly so I went to guest services. She only had "late" seatings for groups of 5 or more like us. I mean c'mon when it's the cheapest on site option for a family of 5, you'd think they'd gear seating towards that but I guess not. Anyway, the CM at guest services booked a table for 4 and told us to say another person decided to join us last minute. We didn't have to say anything than we had the PS and there were 5 of us. They didn't say anything about it.
