Booking Shore Ex

So, I want to be sure that I am able to book the diving shore ex for my hubby and teen on our upcoming cruise. How quickly do you think those will fill up? Or should I even be worried about it? I am a worrier, but my hubby thinks that we should be fine cuz "not that many people are probably diving on a Disney cruise"... Thoughts?

There's a lot of variables here. What's your Castaway Club status (that affects when you can book)? What port is this excursion? What's the itinerary?

I haven't looked at diving excursions. However, I know that the Caribbean snorkeling excursions don't sell out as quickly as some others. I have always been able to get what we wanted as a newbie or silver for snorkeling in the Western and Southern Caribbean.

While I do think your husband has a point (we're both certified divers but didn't even consider those excursions on our sailing since our young children were with us). The thing is since there isn't necessarily as much demand the issue becomes they don't offer that many spots either. On our Western Caribbean sailing I know all the diving excursions sold out. Best I recall there was only one option in two of the ports. Are you willing to book outside of DCL? I would just go ahead and research dive companies in your destinations for a back up.

If you're gold or platinum, you will likely be okay for a diving Port Adventures.

You could always find a reputable third-party tour operator that offers a similar excursion and have that in your back pocket just in case!

Pretty sure we are the lowest tier (silver?) since we've only been on one cruise. I think they are going to dive in Cozumel and Grand Cayman.

New cruisers are a tier lower than silver. As others have said, research 3rd-party tour operators. My young-adult nephews had to do that for a different shore excursion but they ended up all going together for a better price.

Yeah, I figured we were pretty low on the totem pole with that. I know that our booking window opens up on January 7, which is when I will be in WDW running the marathon. So, that will be fun to try and do that on that day. ha

Ooof, then you don't even get the benefit of being in a different time zone (like, I'm in Chicago so all things are 11pm for me instead of midnight.). I wouldn't want to have to do that and then run a marathon the next day. Good luck!
