I am looking to book a room at RPH for 4 nighs the beginning of June. This will be our first time staying here.
Is there a certain location that is better than the others?
Is there a major difference between standard, garden view and water view besides the view?

i have stayed in Tower 1 or Tower 3.
prefer Tower 3.

i like the pool/park views the best as i do spend time in my room during my vacation.

standard view is the cheapest rate.
could be a view of the highway, foliage, building, etc.
water view at rph could be the pool, water canal.

garden view i haven't heard that term at rph, but assume it would be foliage views.
i know they use that word, garden views, at hrh and pbh.

i use T3 and close to the elevator.
this location is closest to the water taxi and walking path near by.

depending on how close you are to the elevators in T1 & 3, will determine the walktime to the water taxis.

if you are in T1, and near the elevator, you have a short distance to the walking path to city walk.

some love T2 and some don't.
there are less park/pool views at this building.

Thanks. That helps give me an idea of the towers.
If you wanted to request a specific tower do you do that when making your reservations or send a request in closer to the check in?

you can request one of the towers when you make your ressie.
(this is what i always do)

or

you can call a week out from your arrival date and request it be put on your file for your tower request, or any request.

and

you can always make that request when you check in.

rooms are assigned prior to your arrival.
it is simple to make your requests when you book.
if you fail to do so, you can still make requests as mentioned above.

some homies like certain locations.
i always prefer close to the elevator while others want to be far from the elevator.

Do they show you on a map where the walking path is when you check in? I can't remember if they did that when we stayed at HRH many years ago.

yes, you will receive a map of the grounds which include that.

the main reason i have never stayed in Tower 2 is this is the building that allows pets on the lower floors.

it also is a longer walk to the lobby and leave the building.
if you pull up the map online of the layout of the 3 buildings, you will see T2 has two wings that extend back. this makes it a longer walk to the exit to the lobby.

my cousin stayed in a room at T2 once while i stayed in T3.
his room was located at the end of one of the wings there.

the view he had was of the entrance walkway into the lobby.

Just booked our 4 night stay at RPH with Loews. Very nice rep who noted my requests and also looked for the best rate.
Really looking forward to staying here.

i hope you enjoy the hotel and parks as much as i do.

if you take time to sit around the pool, the wait staff will take any food or beverage orders for you and bring them to you.

if you do that, have it be a running tab.
that means you only pay for the gratuity charge once.

if you do separate orders for throughout the day, it would be 22% gratuity on each bill slip.

Thanks for all the helpful info macraven. I can't wait to go back. Last time we were there we stayed at HRH but that was in 2001.
Looking forward to seeing all the changes at the parks.

it has been a long time since you were at the darkside.....

you'll have fun with doing it as a new adventure~

check out the website, www.universalorlando.com to see what is new to the parks since you were last there.

don't forget to pick up the park guide maps when you enter to see the show times and street entertainment times/locations.

the one thing i can say about hrh is, it is still the same with the exception of some views from the room.

remember those palm trees and other vegatation that only went to the 4th floor?
they now block some views from the 6th floor..........

i had over 20 stays at hrh but then moved over to rph to be my 'home away from home' place.

if you are near the walking path at rph, it can be a 5 minute brisk walk to where you veer off to hit ioa.
you will have a bag check at one bend before you can see M'ville.
TM will ask to look in your bags before you procede on.
easy peasy.

bag checks are done as you enter city walk for guests.
so this is part of the same routine.

(bag checks also occur when you get on the water taxi from the hotel)

you will enjoy staying at rph especially if you plan to do city walk for dinner or evening entertainment.
so close.

i'm glad i have been able to answer some of your questions.
feel free to ask more.
