Does anyone know... if I book my room thru disney directly, and then i go to a travel agent to get the flight and anything further, can they combine my previous reservation with my travel plans?

I would like to reserve my room and then later (closer to travel time) book flight etc. I have only ever used a travel agent that did everything for us and we had to wait until closer to the departure date to book.

It would be so much easier to be able to book my room and then get everything else sorted out.

I am actually stressing about these plans because I don't want it to be last minute like last time.

Help! :confused3

If you book your own room then the TA has nothing to do with that reservation.....you can have the TA take the reservation over. Its a bit of a process to do. You would be better off to just do the whole thing with the TA.

Will they be able to book this early for 2009?
Our only trips have been last minute - so I'm new to the planning :goodvibes :

Thanks

If you can book it, they can book it :) The benefit of booking with an agent is that your TA should then be on the constant look-out for discounts/promotions and be able to apply it to your room when they arise.

Thank you - I'll be bugging the TA this week ! :cool1:
I'll let you know how it goes - hoping this helps others!

I realize you have decided to go with a TA now. I just wanted to pipe in to say that I use a TA to book my Disney stay, but book the flight myself. The TA takes care of watching out for discounts and books all my dining (gives me tons of helpful advice and is extremely understanding and forgiving if I change my plans :goodvibes ). I book our flight myself though...TA's make just about nothing (or maybe it is nothing) booking flights, so there isn't much (or any incentive for them to shop around to get you a great deal). Same goes for rental car if you are using one.
Happy planning!

Thank you all for your advice and ideas.

Dh bugged the TA that booked our last trip today and sure enough we can start planning thru her today. Our last trip (Jan 2007) we started planning in Nov 2006 and we just "booked" it all thru one tour group. This ended up being cheaper -however could have been due to the shorter notice. This endd up putting us into disney debt just after christmas :(

This time we are saving and want to have no problems when we get back - but we loved the ease of having everything done all at once.

I'll let you know what more I find out.
