Hi, I'm new and am planning my first family trip to Disney World for early-mid February 2014. I want to book our vacation package within the next few days however there are 2 people in our party (my grandparents) who are on the maybe status.

We are planning to book the family suite at the All Star Music resort that sleeps up to 6 people, regardless whether those guests attend the trip or not. I figure that we just book our vacation package for the definite attending guests (3 adults and 1 child) plus theme park tickets for ourselves. And if later my grandparents decide they will join us, we will just purchase additional theme park tickets for them later. I've checked the Disney website and the room rate won't change at all since we'd still be at the maximum that can sleep in the family suite.

I'm just wondering if it is possible to do this? Or would Disney require that we need to have names of all guests who will be attending upon booking? If anyone who is familiar with Disney's reservations can give some insight, it would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Welcome to the DIS!

If you are booking a package, book with the number of people you know for sure are going. You can always call and add your grandparents later if they decide to go. You can also call and have a discount applied if one becomes available. Stay tuned to the DIS for information on discounts.

However...if you get to the point where you are making restaurant reservations, ALWAYS make restaurant reservations for as many persons as you think MIGHT show up. It is much easier to remove guests from a restaurant reservation than it is to add them later.

That's just perfect! I'm glad they're quite flexible on reservation adjustments! Thank you for your help! :)

That's a great idea, I will remember to include my grandparents when reserving! Thank you!

I'd go ahead and book them now but room only as opposed to the package. Room only allows cancellations until 5 days before a trip while packages require 45 days. This way at least you know they'll have a room. Depending upon when in Feb you plan to visit, it could be really busy and they might have to stay at a different resort.
If package discounts are released, you can have the discount applied to your reservations and then change theirs to a package if they are still going. Or keep the room only and they can pay out of pocket for their meals.

Here's a link to pictures. Make sure there's enough sleeping space for all of you. One of the beds is just a junior sized cot.
