I am about to book our July vacation to DW, and I am wondering if it's worth the effort to book through CAA, or just book it through the Disney site itself. When I got a price for the hotel itself, the CAA agent we had only got the same price we got online. Is there an actual CAA discount if you book the whole package??

Thanks!

I went to CAA before and actually didn't end up booking because I found their Canadian prices were more than Disney's American prices. I ended up finding the best deal by renting someone's DVC points.

Also, I have found that even buying Disney tickets from the Disney store doesn't work out too well because of their conversion.

I would recommend paying in US prices...

I would get your tickets at ticketmania using the mousesavers rates. If you are not a member of mousesavers then all you have to do is sign up.

I was told that there isn't always a CAA discount at disney. I tried to book the POP using a CAA discount but there wasn't one available at the time. Lucky me FREE DINING came out a short time later so paying the rack rate wasn't a bad deal at all. Depending on the experience you want at Disney booking through a travel agent may not be the best way to go. I'm not saying that they are not helpful, but alot of them really don't know alot about Disney for being so called "Disney Specialists". Our trip in 2000 we booked through CAA telling the agent that we were going to do Disney but wanted to stay as close as possible to Disney. She did get us the Holiday Inn Family Suites (presently the Nick suites) right beside the entrance to Disney. We were never told about character meals, or having ADR's for Disney restaurants. We were travelling with our DD who was 3 at the time and a major princess freak. Even recently I have talked to agents who really don't seem to know alot about disney other than what is on the little online test that they take to be "Disney Specialists". Don't get me wrong, I am not saying there aren't any agents out there that know anything about Disney. There are alot of members on the DIS who are travel agents and I am willing to bet they have learned alot to make their clients experiences at Disney that much more magical. Snowwhite and I now book all of our travel ourselves and our vacations have been exactly what we planned.

It has been my experience that rarely is a package holiday a deal. I do a TON of research and make all the arangements myself--air-hotel-car etc. If you search the net you can find discount codes for almost anything travel related. For WDW trips I have gotten the best tips from these boards. You can find tips on newsletters you can sign up for, hotel discounts, even places to purchase your passes for the least amount of money. If doing the research if not up your alley, than paying the extra for a package is probably your best option.
