Hello all.

We are planning a long Aug. 2005 vacation. We are doing WDW then the 4 day. Here is my question. We have the cruise date that we want, BUT, are not able to book it untill Oct 15th this year. What are the chances that a cat 4 will still be available? Could I book it now with just 1 person to garentee the the cabin and add the others is as I get the deposit money?? Has anyone done this before? Thanks for your help

The problem with not making a deposit for your entire group is that you could get closed out of an age category for your children. DCL goes by the number of children in each age group to determine the reservations. If you want to go in August, which is usually pretty popular, you may be taking a chance on being sold out. Check out the other thread about adding people to a reservation.

There's really no way to answer your question as next summer will be different for DCL than ever before. The Magic will be in California, so anyone wanting an East coast cruise will be on the Wonder. How far in advance a given category on a given cruise will fill, not even DCL can tell you. They only know how many are open right now. Then next phone call could be a group booking 10 cabins in that category.

No, it is NOT a good idea to book a cabin with the intent of adding people later. This is because the ship fills in various categories, not just number of cabins or number of guests. Obviously, there must be an assigned bed/cabin for each guest. But, there are also a given number of slots in each children's age category. So....if you book a cabin now, when you try to add people in October their age category might be full, even though you have plenty of beds in your cabin.

However...if you want to take the chance, you really wouldn't be out anything. If you call in October and can't add the rest of your family, you can always cancel the entire ressie and get your money back.

Thank you for the anwsers. WOW it is a bummer being on such a tight buget when you want to book these things. At least with WDW I only had to book with one night deposit. UGH!!! I guess I will have to play the waiting game until October. The problem is my DH is a teacher and a coach so we use his extra coaching checks for things like vacation. However he does not get his first untill mid october. Oh to be rich ;) Thanks again.

Actually, the Magic will only be on the west coast from the middle of May to the middle of August, so a late August cruise on the east coast should have both ships to choose from.

I though there was a glimmer og hope with the above info, but I just checked the Disney website and the eastbound cruise leaves CA on Aug 20th. So it looks as if We will still be competing with everyone else trying to get onto a Disney cruise next summer. I will hold my breath hope the Mickey gods smile upon us :p

Actually, the last cruise leaves LA on August 20 and arrives in Port Canaveral 14 days later on Sept 4 (I think that's the arrival date).....and I'm on it!
So...sorry, you only have the Wonder for the months of June, July, and August.
