Is there an advantage to booking ADR through a travel agent as opposed to booking direct with Disney?

I'm assuming by ADR, you mean ABD?

We booked our first upcoming ABD with Dreams for a couple reasons. Dreams offers a booking discount that lowered our cost. But honestly, the main reason was to have someone with the experience and information available to answer my questions and help if there were ever a problem.

Already Kevin has helped us book pre-nights just by sending him a quick email, it was done within the hour. If it were to wait until I remembered to call Disney on my own, I'm sure I would've missed out. The peace of mind an experienced agent offers is worth more than money, along with the discount, it was a no brainer to book with Dreams.

We used Dreams for the booking discount as well. There doesn't seem to be a downside to using them. Technically, you can't modify your own reservation, I think. But ABD is still willing to answer my questions when I call, so I have the benefit of 2 sources of information.

@oufpat The answer to your question is it depends on the travel agency. We decided to surprise our son with an ABD Backstage Magic trip as a high school graduation gift. Yes, the booking discount is nice, but as @riot23 mentioned it is the agency experience that sold me.

I submitted a quote request to Dreams Unlimitied Travel asking to speak with someone who has been on this adventure. The next day @DisneyKevin called me. Having been on this adventure numerous times, he was able to answer all of my questions and gave recommendations on booking pre and post nights.

I highly recommend Dreams when booking ABD.
