so I am considering buying resale.

So say points come June 2018, do you have to wait until u have points to book or can u book whenever. So like book in January 2018 for a stay innAugust 2018

Points hace to be available for check in date. You can book in the 11-7 windows.

To put that a different way, you can book for stays starting in June of 2018 with those points. Startying in July of 2017 for your home resort. If you want to travel sooner than that you'll have to borrow from the 2018 UY back to 2017.

Use year does not determine when you can go (any time of year), or when you can call or go online to make a reservation (always up to 11 months out from date of arrival for home resort and 7 months out for others). Use year instead detemines which year's points get used for a reservation. Via example with a June use year and you want to go for a trip beginning August 10, 2018: ((a) to make that ressie, you can go online or call as early as Sep 10, 2017 for home resort or January 10, 2018 for another resort; (b) at the time you call, you can use for the reservation your June 2018 points which will be your "current" use year points for that trip, any already banked June 2017 points, and, if needed, any June 2019 points which you borrow at time of making the reservation.
