I can not believe this is confusing me, you can see what stress does to the mind. First time in a long time I don't have to borrow.

I have an October use year. I have all my 2014 points in my account.

If I book a trip for late October using my 2014 points, as long as I cancel 31 days prior they go back into my 2014 use year, correct?

You are correct but what I think is confusing you is your comment about not having to borrow.

If these were borrowed points, they would not go back into their original UY, they would stay in your current UY.

Love our Oct UY, for others reading, your Oct 2014 points can be banked before June 2015 and used before Oct 2015.

I had to think this year because our vacation starts in Sept and ends in Oct so I had to book 2 reservations since we straddled our Oct UY.

yep, no matter what you do - cancel 2 days out or cancel 31+ days out - with banked, current or borrowed pts - the pts used will drop back into the UY where they were used for a stay (your 2014 UY).

if you cancelled on short notice, they would turn into holding pts but would still drop back into your 2014 UY.

if you cancelled over a month out, they would still drop back into your 2014 UY but you would still have the option to bank them to your 2015 UY if they are current UY pts.

Probably because we discussed going in September and then I would have had to borrow, because I am out of 2013 points. And even though September is in 2014, it is in "my" 2013 use year.

I also have to remind myself it is not about "when" you book, but when you "use" them.
