Booking question

I have a couple of involved questions, so I'm trying to give as much information as possible to help the experts out there give me some much needed advice.

I am wanting to book a 1br at VGC March 11-15, 2013 (non home) and a 2br at AKV (home) for June 2013. All of my points will be borrowed from 2014 (Feb use year), and I have exactly enough points to cover these two reservations. I have 3 contracts (same member number): 2 at AKV and 1 at BLT. I'm waiting until I get the VGC reservation to make my AKV reservation in case I need some of those points to book a longer stay than I really need in order to book earlier. My questions are:

1. I've read how difficult it is to get VGC at the 7 month mark. Does it make sense to book Mar 8-15 to be able to book earlier and then cancel the nights I don't really want? (8th-10th) I keep checking online as far out as my window will allow for non home, and all is open. However, I'm worried that it is going to book up as my actual window opens, which would be Aug. 11.

2. If I book online, can I choose the contracts from which the points are taken, and if I cancel those first few nights, can I tell MS to which contract I want the points returned? Since I'll want my home resort booking advantage for AKV, I want to use all of my BLT points and a few of my AKV for VGC.

1) yes I think that would help if available. But remember once points are borrowed they cannot be returned.

2) yes the online system asks which contract(s) to use when you book. You may need supervisor assistance to get AKV points out when you call to cancel, though.
