I am booked at ASMO for 8 days. My parents have just booked offsite and have said they can keep the kids with them for the first 2 nights. (Woohoo!)
So I call Disney to cancel the additional room that we have for the first 2 nights, but I'm told if I do this, then they would have to make a new reservation for the first 2 nights, and that we would have to pay for 2 day tickets for those two nights in addition to the package that we have.

Does this sound right? They can't just modify our reservation? They have to make a new one? :confused3

Yep it sounds correct.....Disney correct.

It sounds like you have booked a package which includes the dining plan. When you book a package, there can't be modifications to the package mid-way through the stay.

In order to purchase the dining plan, you must purchase at least a one day ticket with your room reservation, thus making it a package.

Because you have a package, yes, it sounds right to me. The package ties everything together. It's not sold as individual pieces.
